Are you an artist if you're not making art?

This week I've got a couple of audio musings for you about studio practice - all recorded live and direct from my studio - of course!

The importance of studio practice for our self-esteem as artists

In Part 1, I look at the importance of studio practice for maintaining our self-esteem as artists.

(For other kinds of creatives – or artists who don't have a dedicated studio space – substitute 'studio' with desk, table, camera or wherever you do your main creative work.)

How to get in the studio when you'd rather not

In Part 2, I also share a neat little trick for getting yourself into the studio when you'd really rather not.

What tricks do you have for getting over the resistance to work?

Liked this post? Word of mouth is the main way for indie creators to get known.
I'd be SO grateful if you shared this with someone you think might like it!

Valid points, Cherry. Your first audio got me into the zone immediately. I have everything ready to start on my next commission.... which I will definitely be working on all day. The second audio reminded me about the art business I had several years ago. It was very monotonous and the only way I could keep on was to listen to music and audio books. It got to the stage when the moment I switched on the audio player I was in the zone.

Glad I got you in the zone, Robyn. Tackling commissions is something I admire! The few that I have done have been a real struggle and yet I didn't have any trouble working to a brief as a graphic designer. Look forward to seeing the result of yours :)
