Writing your Artist Statement can give you illuminating insights into your creative direction.

A novel approach to this is to write about your work as if it belonged to someone else.

  • What threads become evident?
  • Is there a colour or subject that crops up over & over?
  • A mark or gesture that keeps repeating itself?
  • A certain positioning of elements within the frame?
  • An unusual signature medium?

What are the surprises?

Liked this post? Word of mouth is the main way for indie creators to get known.
I'd be SO grateful if you shared this with someone you think might like it!
