Painting of winged figure holding palette against blazing sky
Creative Fire© Cherry Jeffs, 2013
Mixed-media on 9 masonite panels 90 x 120cm

There was a moment when I thought I wouldn't finish this piece.

This happens to me when I feel I know exactly where a piece is going and there will be no more surprises.

From this piece I learnt that I can find my way back into the work if I re-focus on the process.

When I do this, the piece gathers new impetus, the creative fire is kindled and, yes, there are more surprises to be enjoyed.

This is one of my 'talisman' works - a piece that teaches me something profound about myself as an artist.

Now I just need to figure out how not to forget the lesson!

Liked this post? Word of mouth is the main way for indie creators to get known.
I'd be SO grateful if you shared this with someone you think might like it!
